HC Deb 05 May 1949 vol 464 c1212
54. Mr. De la Bère

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he will confer with the Minister of Health concerning the provision of adequate water supplies to safeguard the agricultural programme in intensely cultivated areas where market gardening is being carried on.

Mr. T. Williams

I am in regular consultation with my right hon. Friend in my efforts to see that adequate water supplies are provided in agricultural areas, including, of course, intensively cultivated areas such as those to which the hon. Member refers.

Mr. De la Bère

Is the Minister aware that, owing to the inadequate provision of water, the production programmes of many market gardeners are being held up; and will he take me along with him to see the Minister of Food, so that I may talk to him in language plain and simple, forceful and true? I want something done about this matter.
