HC Deb 15 March 1949 vol 462 cc1878-9
3 and 4. Mr. Bramall

asked the Minister of Town and Country Planning (1) whether he consulted the local planning authority before agreeing to the issue of a timber-felling licence in respect of Gatton's Plantation and Joyden's Wood, North Cray;

(2) whether he is satisfied that Gatton's Plantation and Joyden's Wood, North Cray, Kent, will be replanted with timber after felling.

Mr. King

A representative of the local planning authority took part in a discussion held locally to consider the applications for felling licences in respect of the woods. My right hon. Friend is at present considering the matter.

Mr. Bramall

Could my hon. Friend answer the specific question in Question No. 4 with regard to replanting? Is he, aware that there is very considerable disquiet among the borough and urban district councils concerned at the spoiling of the amenities in this part of the green belt?

Mr. King

My right hon. Friend is aware that there is some anxiety and he is now considering the matter, but I think I should be unwise to go beyond the statement that he has it in mind at the moment.
