HC Deb 30 June 1949 vol 466 c1489
10. Mr. Peter Freeman

asked the Minister of Education what steps are being taken to simplify the procedure concerning claims under the National Insurance Act and the National Health Act for teachers.

Mr. Tomlinson

The conditions of sick pay for teachers are primarily a matter for settlement between the teachers and their employing authorities. I understand that the effect of the National Insurance Act has recently been discussed, and that recommendations have been made which should have the effect of simplifying the procedure.

Mr. Freeman

Would that procedure be along the same lines as that provided by the Civil Service?

Mr. Tomlinson

I do not know but it will be in accordance with the agreement arrived at between the two parties.
