HC Deb 30 June 1949 vol 466 cc1487-8
6. Mr. Peter Freeman

asked the Minister of Education how many infants' schools and how many secondary schools have been completed since 1945.

Mr. Tomlinson

The latest information available shows that 38 new primary schools and 13 new secondary schools were completed between 31st December, 1945, and 30th April, 1949. Five of these new schools are classified as infants' schools, but the majority of the others will have helped directly or indirectly to provide additional places for infants. These figures do not include new premises for, or extensions to, existing schools, or new schools, which, though incomplete, are partly in use.
