HC Deb 24 January 1949 vol 460 c565
68. Mr. Vane

asked the Minister of Agriculture to what extent new houses and other buildings and the reconstruction of houses and buildings on Forestry Commission property is bound by local by-laws and the current licensing regulations governing similar work undertaken on private property.

Mr. T. Williams

The Forestry Commission, as a Government department, is not bound by local by-laws nor by the current licensing regulations governing the construction or reconstruction of houses and buildings, but in practice they conform to them.

Mr. Vane

Is there any possibility of a tenant occupying one of the Forestry Commission houses, quite independently of any contract of service, spending more money on that house than otherwise would be the case?

Mr. Williams

I should hardly think so.
