HC Deb 16 November 1948 vol 458 cc206-7
54. Mr. Douglas Marshall

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the amount of foreign currency which he has so far permitted British Railways to expend on the chartering of vessels from foreign countries.

Sir S. Cripps

It would not be in the public interest to disclose the amount of foreign exchange allowed to individual persons or undertakings, and I regret therefore that I cannot furnish this information.
