HC Deb 15 November 1948 vol 458 cc20-1
32. Brigadier Rayner

asked the Minister of Works whether he proposes to use Palmerstoni endriana, otherwise known as Australian walnut, as flooring in the new Chamber of the House of Commons.

Mr. Key

The architect proposes to use Australian walnut for the flooring of the new Chamber.

Brigadier Rayner

Is the Minister aware that about every fiftieth plank of this otherwise excellent hard wood develops a most frightful smell, and will he, entirely in the interests of the House, see that every plank is carefully examined before being put in?

Mr. Key

I am certain that those concerned will do so.
