HC Deb 11 November 1948 vol 457 cc1697-8
7. Mr. Sidney Shephard

asked the Minister of Health if the West Kesteven bore has now been sunk; and do the results justify a supply of water to the southern parishes of the Newark rural district.

Mr. Bevan

No, Sir: the work was authorised in September, but must take some time to complete.

Mr. Shephard

May I take it that constructional work in connection with the bore is still going on?

Mr. Bevan

Yes, substantially.

Mr. Shephard

Is not the right hon. Gentleman aware that, nearly two years ago, the Air Ministry offered to supply water to these houses and that that offer was not accepted by his Department? Cannot he do something to speed up this very urgent matter?

Mr. Bevan

That is not the question on the Order Paper. The Question I was asked was how long it would take to complete this work. If the hon. Gentleman will put down the other question. I shall be happy to give him a reply.
