17. Lady Grant

asked the Minister of Health whether he has consulted the Colonial Office regarding the possibility of accepting applications from foreign practitioners serving under the Crown in the Colonial Medical Service, for permanent registration under the Medical Practitioners and Pharmacists Act, 1947, although not resident in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Bevan

Yes, Sir. Consultation with the Colonial Office is proceeding at the present time but the effect of the Act is as indicated in my reply to the hon. Lady on 29th April.

Lady Grant

Can the Minister say when there will be a satisfactory outcome of these consultations?

Mr. Bevan

I cannot give any indication at present but I will certainly take steps to expedite a decision.
