§ 41. Dr. B. Strossasked the Minister of Labour how many men and women have been unemployed for six months or longer in the Division of Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent; and, of these how many are certified to be suffering from incapacity due to accident, chronic illness or industrial disease.
§ Mr. Ness EdwardsAt 15th March, the last date for which figures are available, there were 156 men and no women on the register of Hanley Employment Exchange who had been unemployed for more than six months. At 8th December, the latest date for which an analysis is available, there were 174 registered disabled persons amongst a total of 198 men who had at that date been unemployed for six months or more.
§ Dr. StrossWould my right hon. Friend state whether any other facilities are available, or will be available in the near future, in order that those who are so incapacitated and unfit for work will be able to offer their services to the community?
§ Mr. Ness EdwardsI think that that question would be more properly put to my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade, who is in charge of new factories.
