§ 37. Mr. Janner
asked the Minister of National Insurance whether he intends to issue an explanatory leaflet to all householders on the National Insurance Act, 1946, on the same lines as the leaflet he has issued on National Health.
§ Mr. Steele
Yes, Sir. A "Family Guide to the National Insurance Scheme" will be distributed to all householders in Great Britain between 24th May and 12th June. A Welsh "Guide" will also be available on request at post offices, local National Insurance offices and Employment Exchanges in Wales as from 24th May. I am arranging for copies of the "Guide" to be made available to Members in the Library of the House on 24th May, the first day of the general distribution.
§ Mr. Janner
Will my hon. Friend see that they are circulated as speedily as possible, in view of the imminence of the recommendations coming into force?
§ Mr. Osbert Peake
In view of the large number of questions which hon. Members are receiving from constituents about this matter, would the hon. Gentleman arrange to make supplies of this leaflet available to hon. Members?
§ Mr. Steele
The "Family Guide" will be made available to hon. Members just as quickly as we can make it, but, on the other hand, we have all sorts of leaflets dealing with the special points connected with the scheme, directed to special problems, and these are already being made available in the Library for hon. Members, whenever they are printed.
§ Mr. MacLeod
Will the Minister see that copies are printed in Gaelic for the people of Northern Scotland?
