HC Deb 11 May 1948 vol 450 cc1962-3
62. Mr. John Lewis

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury which Ministry is responsible for dealing with compensation claims in respect of injuries suffered or diseases contracted by persons employed by the Control Commission for Germany.

Mr. Glenvil Hall

The Treasury, which administers the Injury Warrants framed under the Superannuation Acts. The preliminary investigation of the claims is done by the Foreign Office (German Section).

Mr. Lewis

Can my right hon. Friend say which Ministry is prepared to accept the responsibility if a claim is ratified? At the moment, there appears to be some confusion.

Mr. Glenvil Hall

If it is a compensation claim it should come to the Treasury. If my hon. Friend will let me have details of any case which he has, I will sort it out and see whether it should come to us or to the Foreign Office.
