§ 52. Sir J. Mellorasked the Minister of Labour what progress has been made in securing privacy at employment exchanges for interviews with applicants in accordance with the recommendation of the Catering Wages Commission.
§ Mr. Ness EdwardsAs my right hon. Friend said in reply to the hon. Member on 22nd January, 1948, the importance of this has long been recognised. At most Exchanges privacy is afforded either by separate interviewing rooms or cubicles or by the use of separate tables so spaced as to prevent conversation being overheard. Interviewing cubicles are provided as a matter of course wherever new premises are taken or when major adaptations of existing premises are carried out. We are pressing on with improvements where these are required.
