24. Mr. Spence

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will give permission for additional street lighting to be installed in Malcolm Road, Culter, Aberdeenshire; and whether he is aware that no reply has been received to the application which was originally made on 4th June, 1947, or to reminders which have been sent from time to time to his Department.

Mr. Woodburn

I am informed that the general policy of my right hon. Friend the Minister of Transport as regards street lighting was explained to the council some time ago, but I understand that further consideration is now being given to this particular case.

Mr. Spence

Does that mean that the licence will now be granted for this work to be done?

Mr. Woodburn

That question would need to be put to my right hon. Friend the Minister of Transport.
