HC Deb 01 March 1948 vol 448 c7
15. Mr. Percy Wells

asked the Minister of Food what maximum prices have been fixed for home grown pears for next season's crop; and how these prices compare with those paid for the imported varieties.

Dr. Summerskill

Prices of pears, both home-grown and imported, are at present controlled by the Pears Order, 1948, which came into operation on 11th January. The question whether or not a revision of these prices will be necessary before this year's crop of home-grown pears is harvested has not yet been decided.
