HC Deb 29 June 1948 vol 452 cc2001-2
50. Mr. M. Philips Price

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the shortage of sterling and the recent slowing down of commercial exchanges between the countries of Western Europe, he will consider taking the initiative at the Council of the Organisation for European Economic Co-operation in Paris with a view to discussing remedies for this situation.

Sir S. Cripps

The Council of the Organisation for European Economic Co-operation has set up Committees on European Trade and Payments to study as a matter of urgency problems of the kind to which my hon. Friend refers. United Kingdom representatives are taking an active part in the work of these Committees.
