§ 25. Colonel Ropnerasked the Minister of Transport whether he has any statement to make with regard to the freeing of Selby Toll Bridge and the construction of a new bridge.
§ Mr. BarnesWork on detailed plans for a new bridge is to go forward, and negotiations for the purchase of the old bridge and the toll rights will coincide with the construction of the new bridge.
§ Colonel RopnerWill the right hon. Gentleman remind the House that he and his Department have spent their time putting forward a series of reasons why a conclusion should not be reached in order to rid Selby of this toll bridge? Each of those reasons has been invalidated in turn. Will the right hon. Gentleman now find a reason why something should at last be done?
§ Mr. BarnesI cannot enter into a Debate now on this rather difficult question.
