HC Deb 08 July 1948 vol 453 cc556-7
3. Mr. Wyatt

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that the re-adaptation of Marston Green Maternity Home by the Birmingham City Council is being delayed by the inability to obtain piping; and what steps he will take to rectify this situation.

Mr. Bevan

The provision of the first 30 beds will not be delayed by inability to obtain piping, but shortage may delay the completion of the central heating at the hospital. Everything possible will be done to reduce this delay.

Mr. Wyatt

Will my right hon. Friend use his great powers of persuasion on his right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for War to release some of the considerable quantities of piping in store so as to enable this hospital to be completed?

Mr. Bevan

I have said that I will take every step to complete it as early as possible.
