HC Deb 08 July 1948 vol 453 c556
16. Mr. Heathcoat Amory

asked the Minister of Health how many building permits he expects to be issued by local authorities to private individuals under circular 108/48 during the current year.

Mr. Bevan

I cannot add anything to the statement published in the current Housing Return.

Mr. Amory

Is it not a fact that local authorities in general have already put in hand their allocations for the current year, and that very few, if any, permits for houses of private individuals are likely to be issued during this year.

Mr. Bevan

Some of the local authorities who have not yet invited tenders for the whole of their last allocation can include this proportion in that allocation and all new allocations; but the House will probably have an early opportunity of discussing the matter.
