§ 22. Mr. A. R. W. Lowasked the Secretary of State for War whether he will issue monthly returns of recruitment to the Regular and Territorial Armies.
§ Mr. ShinwellA quarterly return of Regular recruiting is already placed in the Vote Office. My right hon. Friend the Minister of Defence proposes to arrange for a similar return of recruiting to the Auxiliary Forces. It is not considered that a monthly return is necessary.
§ Mr. LowWill not the right hon. Gentleman agree that there is some advantage in giving a monthly return during the next few months when a recruiting drive is being conducted on behalf of the Territorial Army?
§ Mr. ShinwellThe real recruiting drive is not due for some little time to come. We will see how it goes on, and we can review the position later.
§ Sir R. RossWill the Minister look into the returns on the basis of commands and districts?
§ Mr. ShinwellI will do anything to please the hon. Member.
