HC Deb 05 July 1948 vol 453 cc17-8
18. Mr. William Shepherd

asked the Minister of Food if he is aware that householders are still experiencing difficulty in getting their soap coupons honoured; and what steps he is taking to improve the supply position.

Mr. Strachey

I shall be glad to look into any cases of people who are having difficulty in obtaining their soap ration if the hon. Member will inform me of them.

Mr. Shepherd

Does not the Minister get information from his regional officers of the difficulties in the North-West of England?

Mr. Strachey

Yes, Sir, we get information, but we have made inquiries of my food offices in the hon. Member's Division, for example, and our reports are that they are well supplied.

Mr. Shepherd

If I give the Minister indications of a shortage of supply of household soap, not toilet soap, will he have the matter looked into?
