HC Deb 05 July 1948 vol 453 c22
43. Mr. Piratin

asked the Minister of Supply what orders for plant or fittings are being placed with the Royal Ordnance Factories by the British Electricity Authority.

Mr. G. R. Strauss

No direct order has been placed, but the Royal Ordnance Factories have orders for components and machined parts for power station equipment placed with them by contractors to the British Electricity Authority.

Mr. Piratin

Can the Minister say whether Royal Ordnance Factories are in the position and have the capacity to make complete plants in order to supply the British Electricity Authority?

Mr. Strauss

No, Sir, they are not equipped to manufacture heavy electrical plant.
