asked the Minister of Supply what payments were made for the 857,602 tons of scrap metal brought here from Germany up to 31st May; and in what currency.

The question of payment only arose in the case of commercial scrap, which amounted to about 200,000 tons. Payment was made in sterling, but it would be contrary to established practice to disclose contract prices.
