HC Deb 05 July 1948 vol 453 c34
69. Mr. Lennox-Boyd

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation what are the proposals for the reorganisation of B.O.A.C.; and if he will make a detailed statement to the House.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation (Mr. Lindgren)

The day to day management is, of course, a matter for the Corporation, but I understand that the Board of the British Overseas Airways Corporation are considering proposals for re-organising the Corporation. I am not at present in a position to make any further statement.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

Is it not a fact that the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster is also looking into this Corporation?

Mr. Lindgren

Not so far as I am aware.

Air-Commodore Harvey

Does not the Parliamentary Secretary agree, in view of the difficulties in Civil Aviation generally, that it would be a good thing to have a Debate in the fairly near future?

Mr. Lindgren

That is not a matter for me, but a Debate was recently held in the House. No doubt a statement will be made by the Corporation when the plans are completed; and if it is of public importance a statement will be made in Parliament.
