HC Deb 26 January 1948 vol 446 c665
87. Sir W. Darling

asked the Minister of Transport what proportion of the reduction of 20,000 of the labour force employed on roads is to fall in Scotland; and if, in planning such reductions, he had in mind the relatively severe weather conditions obtaining in that country.

Mr. Barnes

I am not yet in a position to say what reduction will be required in the number of men employed on road maintenance in Scotland, but I can assure the hon. Member that in deciding this all relevant factors will be taken into account.
