HC Deb 26 January 1948 vol 446 cc664-5
86. Sir William Darling

asked the Minister of Transport what other bridge schemes besides the Severn Bridge have top priority when present capital work postponement period is ended.

The Minister of Transport (Mr. Barnes)

The major bridge schemes, which, before the present cuts in capital investment, were planned to start as soon as possible, were the new Severn Bridge and the reconstruction of Northam Bridge, Southampton, Wool Bridge, Dorset, and the Widnes-Runcorn Bridge.

Sir W. Darling

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that no Scottish bridges appear in that list?

Mr. Barnes

Yes, I rather gather so from the description.
