HC Deb 22 January 1948 vol 446 cc353-4
14. Mr. Heathcoat Amory

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware of the hardship and inconvenience imposed on sailors, soldiers and airmen by their inability to purchase any civilian clothing; and whether he will now arrange for the necessary issue of civilian coupons to enable these young men to wear civilian clothes when off duty.

Mr. H. Wilson

Members of the Forces serving on a regular engagement have since last year been receiving coupons at the rate of 30 per year for use in the purchase of civilian clothing. The first issue was made last June to cover the year October, 1946, to September, 1947, and the second issue is being made this month.
