HC Deb 21 January 1948 vol 446 c186
25. Mr. D. Marshall

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what is the cost of the German Volkswagen.

Mr. McNeil.

About 4,200 Reichsmarks at the present rate of production.

Mr. Marshall

Is it not possible to take greater advantage of these cars instead of British cars, thereby saving the taxpayer?

Mr. McNeil

I am not insensible to that point.
