HC Deb 24 February 1948 vol 447 c1773
77. Mr. Driberg

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he can now make a statement on the Anglo-Yugoslav Trade Agreement.

Mr. Bottomley

Negotiations are proceeding, but I am not at the moment in a position to make a statement.

Mr. Driberg

Would my hon. Friend give any indication of the reason for the long delays which have occurred, and which are obviously not in the interests of either party?

Mr. Bottomley

Chiefly because the Delegation representing Yugoslavia feel that they ought to get capital equipment at once in return for the goods we require, and that is just not possible.
