HC Deb 18 February 1948 vol 447 cc1252-3
Mr. T. Fraser

I beg to move, in page 84, line 46, at the end, to add: (4) In the application of this section to Scotland the expression "local authority" includes the town council of a small burgh, a district council and the county council of each of the separate counties combined for the purposes mentioned in Section one hundred and eighteen of the Local Government (Scotland) Act, 1947. This Amendment is necessary to define a local authority for this particular purpose. In Clause 135 (2), "local authority" is defined as "a county or a town council"; but for this purpose—that is, for the insurance of members against accidents—we want to have all local authorities included in the definition—that is to say the county councils, district councils, large boroughs and small boroughs, all of them alike.

Amendment agreed to.

Clause, as amended, ordered to stand part of the Bill.
