HC Deb 10 February 1948 vol 447 c188
6. Mr. William Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland why, in view of the fact that according to official advertisement 14th February was the closing date for receiving applications for the post of assistant secretary to the Western Regional Hospital Board, it was announced, on 3rd February, that the appointment had been made and full details given to the Press.

Mr. Woodburn

This is strictly a matter for the Regional Board, but I am informed that they intend to have two assistant secretaries. The first post has been filled, and the advertisement referred to in the Question relates to the second.

Mr. Ross

If that is so, can the Secretary of State give us any information as to whether or not the second post was duly advertised in the same way as the other one?

Mr. Woodburn

I could not say without notice. This is a matter which is the business of the regional board and not strictly my responsibility, but I would be willing to inquire and inform the hon. Gentleman.
