HC Deb 10 February 1948 vol 447 cc183-4
1. Colonel Gomme-Duncan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland why under their respective premium bull schemes the terms for Scotland are less favourable than for England for percentage of purchase price, date of first payment, seasonal grants and total premiums payable.

The Secretary of State for Scotland (Mr. Woodburn)

The schemes operated in Scotland and in England and Wales differ in several respects and a straight comparison is difficult. I am, however, aware of the recent modifications of the English scheme and these will be taken fully into account when the Scottish scheme is next reviewed in the autumn of this year.

Colonel Gomme-Duncan

If I send the right hon. Gentleman some figures, will he kindly undertake to go into them, because this matter is giving serious concern in farming circles in Scotland?

Mr. Woodburn

Certainly.
