§ 44. Mr. Wilfrid Robertsasked the Minister of Town and Country Planning what are the objections on planning grounds to the proposed grass drying plant of the Milk Marketing Board to be erected 211 at Blencogo, Cumberland; and will he take action to ensure that this enterprise will be able to function this summer.
§ Mr. SilkinI am informed that the objections by the Planning Committee to the Cumberland County Council relate solely to the external appearance of the building. The possibility of improving the design is being investigated with officials of the Milk Marketing Board, and I understand that agreement between the parties is likely to be reached in the course of the next few days.
§ Mr. RobertsCan the Minister say whether this alteration in the plan may not delay the operation of this project so long as to make it useless for the coming summer and, if so, will he take action to override the Planning Committee?
§ Mr. SilkinIf I take the matter over it may result in even more delay. This is a matter between the local authority and the applicant. I think it is best to leave it to be settled between them.
