§ 29. Mr. Sidney Shephardasked the Secretary of State for War how many foreign-born wives of Service men are still awaiting repatriation to this country.
§ Mr. ShinwellThis information is not available centrally as arrangements for the transport of soldiers' wives from overseas to this country are made by the military authorities overseas.
§ Mr.shephardIs is not a fact that there is very great dissatisfaction at the length of time these women have to ait before they can be repatriated to this country, and will the right hon. Gentleman look into the matter to see if the transport can be supplied?
§ Mr.shinwellI have no doubt that there is some dissatisfaction, but there are transport difficulties which cannot be overcome at present, although we are rapidly improving the position.
