HC Deb 13 December 1948 vol 459 cc821-2
28. Mr. Sutcliffe

asked the Minister of Food if he is aware that oranges are frequently obtainable by those who require them for health reasons; and if he will make arrangements for priority to be given on production of a medical certificate.

Mr. Strachey

My medical advisers take the view that there are no illnesses for which it is necessary to make oranges available on production of a medical certificate.

Dr. Segal

Would not the right hon. Gentleman agree that, in certain instances where oranges may be required for illness, orange juice or orange squash may serve just the same purpose?

Mr. Strachey

I should have thought so, without pretending to be an expert.
