asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he proposes to bring under public ownership mining royalties in Nigeria which are at present held by private enterprise.

This matter is already under consideration.

Surely my right hon. Friend will agree that it is high time that what was put into effect in this country many years ago should be put into effect in the West African Colonies?

I am very alive to the problem but it is not possible for me to make a further statement just now.

Have steps been taken to enlist the services of the great cooperative movement in this country to help in this direction?
