HC Deb 01 December 1948 vol 458 cc1991-2
23. Dr. Segal

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what profits were made by mining companies in Sierra Leone during the latest year for which returns are available; what Income Tax payments were made by them to the Sierra Leone Government; and whether any agreements exist which prevent the payment of higher revenues to the local exchequer.

Mr. Creech Jones

As regards the last part of the Question, I would refer my hon. Friend to my answer to the hon. Member for Harrow, East (Mr. Skinnard) on 24th November. As regards the first and second parts, I am consulting the Governor and will communicate with my hon. Friend when his reply is received.
