HC Deb 01 December 1948 vol 458 cc1971-2
2. Mr. Stokes

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will make a statement on the disappearance of No. 353829 Heinrich Hinz, last heard of at Esterwegen Prison in Germany in the British zone on 27th October, 1946; and where he now is.

Mr. Mayhew

I am informed that the Military authorities in Germany authorised Heinrich Hinz's extradition to the U.S.S.R. from Esterwegen Prison as a suspected war criminal on 16th October, 1946. His present whereabouts are not known.

Mr. Stokes

Can my hon. Friend say whether this man actually went or whether he is probably still at large somewhere in the West? Is it possible to find out, because his wife is anxious to know?

Mr. Mayhew

He was not extradited to the Soviet Union.
