HC Deb 25 November 1947 vol 444 cc1766-7
15. Wing-Commander Roland Robin-son

asked the Minister of Labour whether he has now been able to consider the information supplied to him by the hon. Member for Blackpool, South, with regard to the proposed termination of the vocational training of ex-Service men who have passed the Institute of British Photographers intermediate examination; and whether, in view of the fact that his Department gave a' definite promise in writing of a two-year course to these men, he will now reverse his decision.

Mr. Isaacs

As I promised the hon. and gallant Member, I am looking into the matter and will communicate with him in due course.

Wing-Commander Robinson

In looking into the matter will the right hon. Gentleman bear in mind that the qualifications for suitable employment in this industry are the completion of the vocational training course and not the passing of what is, at its best, only an interim examination?

Mr. Isaacs

I hope the hon. and gallant Gentleman will forgive me if I do not express an opinion on this matter at the moment. If we find that a pledge has been given which has been disregarded, we will put the matter right.
