HC Deb 17 November 1947 vol 444 cc805-6
57. Colonel Ropner

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is aware of the shortage of power-lifts and linkages in the West Riding of Yorkshire; and whether he will take immediate steps to speed up their production and distribution to this area.

Mr. T. Williams

I am aware that there is a shortage of power-lift units for certain tractors in the West Riding of Yorkshire and in other counties. The demand for the power-lift has greatly exceeded the manufacturers' expectations, but output is steadily improving. I understand that the manufacturers hope to reach a substantial level of production early in 1948, although it will be some time before all outstanding orders can be met. In the meantime, available supplies are being distributed as fairly as possible.
