§ 49. Mr. A. R. W. Lowasked the Minister of Defence how many men of the Royal Navy, the Army and the Royal Air Force respectively, are at present serving in Burma; including a separate figure for men in Gurkha Regiments.
§ Mr. AlexanderThe total is 8,753. I will, with permission, circulate the details in the OFFICIAL REPORT. AS the hon. Member is aware, it is not the practice to reveal the strengths of the Forces in relation to areas. I see no reason for withholding the figures in this particular case, but I must ask hon. Members not to regard it as a precedent.
