HC Deb 06 November 1947 vol 443 c1973
5. Mr. Dye

asked the Minister of Education how many children of five years of age are excluded from school in Upwell; and for what reason.

Mr. G. Tomlinson

I understand that some 15 children of five years of age were temporarily excluded from the Upwell county primary school owing to the transfer of a member of the staff to another school. The vacancy on the staff of the Upwell school has now been filled and the excluded children are being admitted.

Major Legge-Bourke

For what reason did the difficulty arise in getting another teacher?

Mr. Tomlinson

The difficulty did not arise in getting another teacher. The difficulty arose through the transferring of a teacher.
