§ 6. Mr. Skinnardasked the Minister of Education whether he is satisfied that his 1974 regulations ensure that the standard of attainment for admission to a county secondary grammar school is uniform throughout the areas covered by any local education authority so that a successful pupil's educational opportunity is not jeopardised by the accident of his family's removal to another part of the administrative county.
§ Mr. TomlinsonThe selection of pupils for admission to grammar schools is primarily a matter for the local education authorities. If, however, the hon. Member has any particular difficulties in mind, perhaps he would write to me.
§ Mr. SkinnardIs it permissible for the committee of an excepted district to offer a grammar school place to a pupil whom they subsequently report, on his removal to another district, as not having reached the standard of marks prescribed by the county authority?
§ Mr. TomlinsonThat sounds a little too complicated for me to answer at the moment. If my hon. Friend will put the problem in the form of a letter to me I will give him an answer.
