asked the Minister of Food the volume and value of pepper mint, lavender, sage and spearmint oils imported into the United Kingdom in 1946; and the countries of origin of such imports.

No, Sir. It would not be in the public interest to disclose this information.

Why is it not in the public interest to disclose these figures?

This information has never been given in connection with any of the commodities we import, for reasons I have often given to the House. It is true that these are not very important commodities, but I think it would be wrong to make an exception in their case.
