HC Deb 19 May 1947 vol 437 cc1999-2000
74. Mr. Touche

asked the Minister of Food what steps have been taken to obtain increased supplies of Danish vein cheese following the increased demand for it as a result of its reduction in points.

Mr. Strachey

We have just concluded a contract with Denmark for as much blue-vein cheese as they can spare until next December. The tonnage is a little more than we have been getting recently, and is about the same as prewar; but the main reason for the points reduction was to ensure rapid movement into consumption during the warm weather.
