HC Deb 31 March 1947 vol 435 cc1652-3
45. Colonel Gomme-Duncan

asked the Prime Minister whether he has considered the statement sent from the Liaison Committee of Transport and Industry, representing a large proportion of trade and industry of the United Kingdom, in response to the invitation for criticism contained in White Paper, Cmd. 7046; whether he has noted the opinion expressed therein; and what course he intends to follow, in view of that opinion.

The Prime Minister (Mr. Attlee)

The answer to the first part of the Question is, "Yes, Sir." As regards the second part, there has been no change in the policy of His Majesty's Government as announced in The King's Speech.

Colonel Gomme-Duncan

Is it not a fact that this report by experts who were specially appointed by the Government says that nothing but chaos and dislocation can result from these measures?
