HC Deb 20 March 1947 vol 435 c579
27. Mr. Martin Lindsay

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that 80 beds have been closed at the King Edward VII Memorial Sanatorium at Hertford Hill, near Warwick; that this is the only tuberculosis sanatorium for Warwickshire; and what action he is taking to increase the staff in this and similar institutions.

Mr. J. Edwards

Yes, Sir. My right hon. Friend and my right hon. Friend the Minister of Labour and National Service are doing all they can to help. Eight male student nurses have joined the staff of Hertford Hill since December, and more can be sent as soon as living accommodation is ready.

Mr. Lindsay

Is the Minister aware that this is precisely similar to the reply I received to a similar Question 18 months ago, and does he not agree that it is about time something was done in this important matter?
