HC Deb 20 March 1947 vol 435 cc579-80
29. Mr. Titterington

asked the Minister of Health whether he proposes to implement the recommendations of the Inter-Departmental Committee on the Rag Flocks Act as contained in Cmd. 6866.

Mr. J. Edwards

I have nothing to add at present to the reply given to my hon. Friend the Member for Spen Valley (Mr. Sharp) on 25th November last.

Mr. Titterington

Does the Parliamentary Secretary think that he or his Department are sufficiently sensitive to the fact that the Inter-Departmental Committee on the Rag Flocks Act made 40 recommendations referring to manufacture, storage and the use of rag flock and other fillings? Is he aware that those recommendations arose out of the alleged infectious, contagious and distressing afflictions to which humanity is apparently heir? Is he also aware that humanity spends one-third of its time in physical contact with these materials in sleeping or sitting, and will he give close attention to implementing those regulations?

Hon. Members

Speech.

Mr. Speaker

I do not see how the Parliamentary Secretary can be expected to answer a supplementary question of that length.

Mr. Gallacher

It is a maiden speech.
