HC Deb 20 March 1947 vol 435 c571
16. Mr. W. J. Brown

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department in how many appeals under the Police (Appeals) Acts, 1927 and 1943, which had been disposed of up to 30th September, 1946, were the punishments of dismissal, enforced resignation, reduction in rank, or reduction in rate of pay, respectively, reduced, or, except in cases of dismissal, increased.

Mr. Ede

The punishment was varied by being reduced in two cases of dismissal and 10 cases of requirement to resign, and by being increased in one case of reduction in rank.

Mr. Hector Hughes

Is my right hon. Friend in a position to say what percentage of those appealing are affected by this?

Mr. Ede

Not without notice.
