§ 29. Mr. Keelingasked the Assistant Postmaster-General how soon the late collections which were cancelled because of the electricity cuts will be restored.
§ Mr. BurkeMy noble Friend has decided that, in view of the present shortage of manpower, the restoration of these services would not be justified.
§ Mr. KeelingAre we to understand then, that the electricity cuts have nothing whatever to do with it, and that it is a staff difficulty entirely?
§ Mr. BurkeThese services were withdrawn originally at the time of the electricity cuts. While they were withdrawn the whole matter was reconsidered, and these services and others, in view of the manpower position, are not now considered justified.
§ Mr. KeelingI beg to give notice that, in view of the continued deterioration of the services, I shall raise this matter on the Adjournment at the earliest possible opportunity.
